This mixed-methods research project combines a longitudinal cohort study with qualitative work.

 

The study aims to:

1. Identify predictors of post-repair fistula breakdown and recurrence;

2. Identify predictors and characteristics of post-repair incontinence; and

3. Recognize feasible and acceptable strategies for modifying key risk factors of adverse outcomes.

 

These aims address critical gaps in fistula research and will help improve the health and well-being of women affected by fistula by ensuring they receive the best possible care and guidance throughout the repair and recovery process.
